Start-up and Configuration

Plug the device into your vehicle’s OBD2, USB or 12V port (depending on the model). Then, log in to the client portal to complete the setup. A step-by-step guide is available in the “Technical Support” section.

Sign in to the client portal, open the “Vehicles” tab, and follow the steps to update your information. This helps maintain accurate tracking of your trips and reports.

In the portal, go to “Vehicles” > “Odometer” and enter the exact value displayed on your dashboard. It is recommended to do this when creating the account and at the beginning or end of each fiscal year.

Installation is simple and does not require any specialised tools. However, if you prefer, Odotrack can recommend a certified installer.

Click “Forgot your password” on the client portal login page, enter the email address linked to your account, and follow the steps provided in the email you receive.

The app is available on the App Store and Google Play. Download it, log in with your credentials, and your trips will be displayed automatically.

Use and Troubleshooting

Your trips automatically appear in the portal and mobile app. If one seems to be missing, check that the device is properly plugged in and the vehicle running.

Ensure the device is securely connected and use only the supplied cables. If the issue continues, restart your vehicle and check the “Technical Support” section for the complete procedure.

In the portal or app, select the trip, then change its category (business or personal). The reports will update automatically.

No. Using non-provided accessories may damage the device and your vehicle, and may void your warranty.

Try another browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) and clear your device’s cache. If necessary, uninstall and reinstall the mobile app.

Contact our customer service team to ensure the secure transfer of your data to a new device.

Contact Odotrack technical support. After a diagnostic, a replacement can be made if the device is still under warranty.

About Odoplus

Yes. Even if you drive less than 20,000 km per year, tax law (CRA and Revenu Québec) requires that you keep a mileage log if you claim vehicule expenses or if your employer provides you with a vehicle that is also used for personal purposes.

All light vehicles sold in Canada since 1996 are equipped with an OBD-II port. However, if you are unable to use it, we offer several alternative connection options to connect your device.

Yes. Odotrack reports are compliant and valid across Canada, including Ontario.

No. You cannot simply estimate or invent a percentage based on your own impressions. The CRA and Revenu Québec require documented proof. Without a logbook (complete or simplified), they can deny your deductions or calculate a benefit based on 100% personal use. In the event of a tax audit, an estimated percentage without evidence will not be accepted.

Yes. Even if the vehicle is provided by your employer, you must keep a mileage log if you use it for personal purposes. Your employer must calculate the taxable benefits associated with this use (in accordance with CRA rules). The log allows you to distinguish between personal and business mileage. Without a detailed log, all use could be considered personal, which would increase your taxable benefit.

About Odoconstruction

Yes. You must keep a mileage log, even if you work on temporary construction sites.

This log protects you because it shows that your trips to these sites are for business purposes and not part of your regular commute. In general, direct trips from your home to a temporary work site are considered business trips. Without a logbook, the CRA could reclassify your trips as personal, which would cause you to lose your deductions.

To be eligible for deductions, two forms are required:

  • Federal: Form T2200
Without Form T2200 signed by your employer, you cannot claim your vehicle expenses on your federal tax return.
  • Provincial: Form TP-64.3
This form essentially confirms the same information as Form T2200, but for the provincial portion of your return.

Without Forms T2200 and TP-64.3, you will not be eligible for deductions, even if you keep a mileage log.

Yes. You don’t have to reprogram anything, even if you frequently change construction sites. Each new trip is detected automatically. In your OdoConstruction account, you can then validate each of your construction sites, and that’s it.
